15 Weeks - Last Week of Nothing

Booooooo.... all pregnant people should be able to spend their entire pregnancy in a tropical location.  Please take me back to Mexico :(

Ok, I'm back to reality ... or, at least semi-reality.  I am off this week, too, gearing up to start a new job next Monday! It's been great having the time off, and I'll sure miss it until my maternity leave!

This week I am noticing a change in my little bump.  It's hard to explain, but I am feeling it more, and the shape has changed a bit.  From what I've read, it sounds like the baby has moved up in location, and in a short few weeks, I should start looking more pregnant, and less ... well ... chunky ;)  let's hope!

Onto Week 15:

How far along? 15 Weeks, 3 Days
Total weight gain: appox 5 pounds
Maternity clothes? a super cute tank top, and some leggins that aren't technically "maternity", but they're super comfortable! But I'm finding that I can get by with yoga pants.
Stretch marks? no ... augh ... let's hope the answer to this is always NO
Sleep: sleeping great so far!
Best moment this week: getting home from being away for a week and seeing my parent's response to "the bump" that has miraculously grown in a short week!

Miss Anything? Nothing too badly this week. Except, I would kill for a ham and cheese sandwich ... mmm.....
Movement: not yet, but hopefully in a few more weeks!
Food cravings: not this week! I mostly just want everything I can't have...like ... ham and cheese sannnndwichesssss....
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope, thank god!
Have you started to show yet: I'm starting to tell a lot more this week.  I'm having trouble hiding "the bump" in regular t-shirts, etc.
Gender prediction: boy, all the way!
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: Some cramping this week, but it's a normal sign of growth!
Belly Button in or out? in, thank god ... eeewweee...
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!!!
Looking forward to: I can't wait to find out if it's a boy or a girl!! We find out in about 3 weeks! Also, I'm looking forward to feeling some movement soon!

14 Weeks - Mexico!

We were lucky enough to spend this week in Cancun, Mexico, baby!  We went along with 3 other couples, our great friends, and spend time relaxing in the sun, eating (a lot!), and ... for most of us, drinking, drinking, drinking!!  Alas, I was unable to participate in that last part, however, it didn't take away from the trip at all!

We stayed at the lovely Moon Palace Golf & Spa resort.  Our days consisted mostly of sunbathing, sipping cocktails, and counting down the minutes until our next meal :)  The food was amazing, and there were a number of restaurants in the resort to choose from.  Being an all-inclusive resort, we were able to eat anything, and more likely, EVERYTHING we wanted!

My most common symptom, exhaustion, apparently exists in Mexico, too.  I was hoping that I would leave it behind with the cold weather, but I wasn't so lucky. Around 1130 every night, I started conking out, so Dave would walk me back to our hotel room so I could get some sleep ...aannnnd ... I would wake up later than everyone else, too, hah! But the group was wonderful, and always considered how I was feeling throughout the trip.

Here is a picture of Dave and I headed to dinner one night. Here is my Week 14 picture:

Miss Anything? this week it was tough not to have my WINE! ... and margaritas ... and cosmopolitans ... and ...the list goes on.  Also, not having sushi as the resort had some great sushi options!
Movement: not yet, but hopefully in a few more weeks!
Food cravings: not this week! I mostly just want everything I can't have
Anything making you queasy or sick: no, I've been very lucky.  I don't get sick from anything, but I find that I just don't want things that I normally eat.   I've eaten a salad for lunch almost everyday for years, and now, I have to gear myself up to get a salad.  I don't know why!!Have you started to show yet: A little bump so far.. but mostly I am just starting to look chubby!! I hate this in-between stage! I'm learning to find clothes that cover the bulge, like the shirt in this picture.
Gender prediction: I'm thinking it's a boy

Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: Nothing much, other than just being tired at night. It's not as bad as it was, though!
Belly Button in or out? in, thank god ... this freaks me out.
Wedding rings on or off? on

13 Weeks - Ultrasound

Do you see the smile on this little guy/girl???

Now, onto chubby mummy!

How far along? 13 Weeks, 4 Days
Total weight gain: only 2 or 3 pounds (the workouts are helping manage the gain!)
Maternity clothes? a super cute tank top, but I won't fit into it for a while :)
Stretch marks? no ... augh ... let's hope the answer to this is always NO
Sleep: sleeping great so far!
Best moment this week: reaching the 2nd trimester and starting to document everything here!
Miss Anything? definitely my WINE! ... and SUSHI ... and ham and cheese sandwiches!!
Movement: not yet, but hopefully in a few more weeks!
Food cravings: Perfectos cinnamon raisin bagels with lite cream cheese ... though I'm only having them on saturday mornings! And anything fatty, greasy, and overall bad for me :(
Anything making you queasy or sick: no, I've been very lucky.  I don't get sick from anything, but I find that I just don't want things that I normally eat.   I've eaten a salad for lunch almost everyday for years, and now, I have to gear myself up to get a salad.  I don't know why!!

Gender prediction: I'm thinking it's a boy

Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: I'm very lucky to report that I have not had any real symptoms, outside from being tired.  I've had minor nausea which has come and gone in waves, but that has subsided in the last few weeks.  Moving into this second trimester, they say that I should be feeling more energized soon.  At this point, I don't know if it's the pregnancy, or the 4:30am alarm clock that is making me so tired!
Belly Button in or out? in, thank god ... this freaks me out.
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!!!

Whoa Baby, Here We Go!!

Tuesday, April 10th:

OH BABY!
Welcome to the first post! Many of our friends and family who are reading this are aware that we are expecting a little one in October! Because I know (literally) nothing about being pregnant, or having a baby, I've begun reading and doing some research.  Through some of my web searches, I came across a blog that a woman did to keep track of her pregnancy, and I loved the idea! You can check her block out here.

We have friends and family all across the globe who cannot be with us everyday to see how things are going, so this is our way of communicating our journey to all of you.  Also, this will be a great keepsake for us as time passes to remember all the little details along the way.

HOW IT ALL STARTED ~
I had started working out with trainer Walter Norton Jr at Institute of Performance Fitness in Andover, MA in the 'Early Riser' group (5:15am).  I have worked out with Walter in the past, and I knew that this was intense, but worth it!  As the website says, it's "The Toughest Training You'll Ever Love!", and it's true.  No, I don't like waking up at 4:30, three days a week, but once you're there with the amazing, supportive people in the morning group, you forget that it's so early, and just feel great the rest of the day!

I began my first workout on January 27, 2012.  As the weeks past, I notice how tired I was.  I would get to work and I couldn't imagine how I was going to get through the day!  I also noticed ... I was ... late!  I'm never late ... but instead of jumping to conclusions, I just assumed that the tiredness, and the missed cycle was due to the workout intensity and the major change in my routine.  Mid February came, and I was still cycle-less, so I told Dave that I would try to take a test.

Well ... I didn't really know what I was doing, so when I saw one bold line, and one faint line, I couldn't figure out if it was positive or not.  I thought maybe the test was broken, so I took another one, but ended up with the same result! Dave was sure it was false ... he said "look at the differences in the two lines!"  ... no one ever talks about faint/strong lines, so I didn't know what I was looking at.  I just figured it was a mistake and that the tests were negative.

So ... another week passed :) ... time for another test!!  This time, I bought a test that had a plus sign, thinking that perhaps a new brand would solve my apparent mental issues!  It came back with a definite plus sign, but still, one line a little more faint than the other.  Dave still couldn't believe it!! I think he was too nervous to get his hopes up!... yes people, three tests were not enough to prove to him that we were in for the ride of our lives!

I scheduled an appointment with an OB doctor, and all test came pack, POSITIVE! I think this is when Dave finally started to believe it was true!  Buckle up, baby, cuz here we go!! :)
